Jeep Grand Cherokee To Get Seven Seats In 2020

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be even more family friendly than previous models because it will have seven seats. A very popular SUV, Jeep’s flagship Grand Cherokee is scheduled to undergo a major overhaul and emerge even better in 2020. This planned all-new model will have seven seats spread out over three rows. The company says expanding the seating capacity of the Grand Cherokee will plug a huge gap in their current line-up of SUVs. For buyers it means their beloved Jeep Grand Cherokee can comfortably hold even more family and friends.

Built In A Retooled Detroit Facility

The information coming out of American news sources is Mike Manley, the new CEO of the company, has decided where the overhaul of the Jeep Grand Cherokee  will take place. It’s an engine facility in Detroit that’s been dormant for some time It will be retooled to produce the planned three-row version of the Grand Cherokee. The reports say the new three-row Grand Cherokee won’t replace the popular five-seat version of the SUV. Instead, it will be added to the lineup.

Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer And Grand Wagoneer

The company will not only be manufacturing the three-row Grand Cherokee at the retooled factory in Detroit. Jeep plans to bring back the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer nameplates. Those two vehicles will be produced at the retooled Detroit facility as well. The production of the new three-row Grand Cherokee is set to run alongside that of the relaunched Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. No matter what Jeep model you want, you can check one out at Chapman Chrysler Jeep.

News On The Jeep Flagship’s Upgrade

The Detroit News, an American news outlet, recently published reports show the progress Jeep is making on their Detroit facility. Plus, the publication will let the public know exactly when they will begin to see Jeep’s now-aging flagship be given its much needed update. Earlier this year Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced their five-plan. One of the major features of that plan was the changes and upgrades to the Grand Cherokee. Executives at FCA had promised that by 2022 there would be a new Jeep Grand Cherokee model. However, Jeep has now chosen the 2021 model year as their new target. That means by late 2020 there could be a new Jeep Grand Cherokee hitting the streets.

A Busy Time For Jeep

The underpinning of the new Grand Cherokee draws on the architecture of the Alfa Romero Giorgio. The Stelvio SUV uses the same architecture. The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be built on an entirely different platform and the new Grand Cherokee will be released before they are. FCA’s five-year plan means the next few years will be very busy for Jeep. The company has promised there will be more Trackhawk models. Plus they say they will also launch the off-road-focused Deserthawk nameplate’s performance models.

New CEO Mike Manley said the Trailhawk models are acknowledged tops in their segments and the Trackhawk with its on-road capability followed. He pointed out the all-new Deserthawk with its high-speed desert capability is the company’s planned third hawk.
