Chrysler Pacifica is the 2017 Free Press Utility Vehicle of the Year

When thinking of minivan choices, a buyer has a lot to think about. Most major manufacturers have a solid minivan with all the bells and whistles. While true, one that stands ahead of the others is the Chrysler Pacifica. In fact, the Free Press chose the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica as the 2017 North American Utility Vehicle of the year. By earning this coveted award, shoppers can pick one up without fear or trepidation as it’s not an easy one to win.

The Pacifica is a family-friend vehicle with new features to the back seats, including many that are kid-friendly. With an optional plug-in hybrid model, buyers can even get one that doesn’t burn gas. This minivan is just getting started, and the all-new Pacifica will soon replace the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, which are both in Fiat Chrysler’s lineup. Yes, with sleek looks, amazing video screens that allow kids to play travel-friendly games such as Soduko and hangman, along with stow & go seats, in non-hybrid models, this is the ultimate family minivan.

If you are interested in the plug-in hybrid, you should know that it can cover an impressive 33 miles on battery power alone, which is actually pretty decent considering most people have a daily commute of less than that. With quick charging times, you can pretty much avoid gasoline altogether, except when going on long road trips. Speaking of road trips, with comfortable seats, plenty of entertainment for both adults and children, and you can easily take this van out for winter and summer road trips.

Anyone who is planning to take their kids in a minivan wants it to be safe, and Chrysler does not disappoint. With adaptive cruise control, blind spot alert, lane departure alert and assist, along with collision alert with automatic braking, drivers and passengers will be safer than ever. Coupled with a solid track record of producing reliable vehicles that last a long time, and one can buy the Pacifica for now and beyond, all while staying safe.

While it is no speed demon, the 287 horsepower engine can get you up to 60 miles per hour in 7.3 seconds, which is certainly an impressive feat considering we are talking about a minivan and not a sports car. With 18 miles per gallon in the city and 28 on the highway, and you won’t have to be stopping constantly for gas. Of course, the hybrid version gets an EPA-rated 84 MPGe combined.

One of the most underrated things about the 2017 Pacifica, and Chrysler in general is the UConnect system. With voice recognition and plenty of options to control it all, everyone will enjoy the ride even more than in the past. On top of that, the UConnect system is reliable and easy to use, which isn’t always the case when considering how finicky and complicated some technology is. If you check one out at Chapman Chrysler Jeep and play around with the technology and get behind the wheel, you are almost certainly going to fall in love with the Chrysler Pacifica.
