All-new high-tech 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan aims to reinvent the family hauler

2017 Pacifica

Chrysler has reimagined and reinvented the minivan and its new, high-tech 2017 Pacifica proves it. Chrysler invented the minivan segment with its release of its 1984 Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Caravan. Those vehicles were roomy enough for the entire family, yet affordable on just about any budget. But they were underpowered and weren’t the best looking vehicles in the world. Eventually they began to be derided as mom-mobiles no real man would be caught dead driving.

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is designed to change the perception and the power of the minivan and put Chrysler squarely back in the forefront when it comes to family-friendly automobiles. Automakers pried Americans away from their minivans with very powerful, masculine-looking SUVs. These gas-guzzling behemoths came with 4-wheel drive, room for 7, and enough torque to tow a small house. They became the official vehicle of the soccer-mom making the supermarket run. With the new and improved 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler has combined the roominess and affordability of the minivan with the rugged good looks and engine power of the SUV. To see how it performs in the real world, head down to Chapman Chrysler Jeep.

You’ve got to see the new Chrysler Pacifica to believe it. It’s been redesigned inside and out and destined to replace the Chrysler Town & Country as North America’s primary family hauler. The Pacifica is also the first plug-in hybrid from Chrysler able to travel as many as 30 miles on electricity alone. Plus the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has all the latest in-car technology. That includes an 8.4 inch touchscreen, voice activated connectivity, 360-degree camera views, along with two 10-inch screens in the back for the kids. Add forward collision avoidance, lane-departure warnings, and adaptive cruise control all standard, and you have Chrysler’s safe, comfortable, powerful minivan of the future.

The outside of Fiat Chrysler’s new Pacifica is more aerodynamic, the body frame is stiffer and lighter, it can seat 8 comfortably, and still have space to haul lots of stuff. Just like the original minivan killed the station wagon, this new minivan will probably leave the SUV battered and bruised and parked in a ditch near a gas station. What’s also new is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica looks masculine enough that even MMA fighters will feel comfortable driving one. Imagine a minivan so cool even teenagers will want to drive it. That’s the new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.

The Pacifica Fiat Chrysler showed during the Detroit Auto Show could well pull a significant percentage of families away from SUVs. The 80 MPGe, great looks, excellent handling, top-notch performance, and a driver-friendly, comfortable interior that offers more interior space than of any other minivan, plus an in-car vacuum cleaner, could all be nails in the coffin of the SUV era. The minivan market is still strong. Almost 100,000 Town & Country minivans were sold in 2015. The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has more of what people buy family automobiles for, plus the new Chrysler fascia. Bow your heads and say a few words for the passing of the SUV era.
