The all-new Jeep Wrangler made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas recently. And it was the perfect setting for this big reveal because the 2018 Jeep Wrangler features a range of new cutting-edge technology. With one fell swoop, Jeep has taken one of its most legendary vehicles and brought it right up to date. The vehicle now has many of the newest technological ‘must-haves’ the modern automobile buyer expects to see when the latest version of any automotive brand is offered to the public.

For automobile manufacturers, the importance of each year’s Consumer Electronics Show, which is held in Las Vegas, is undeniable. It has now become all the more vital because of all the breakthroughs vehicle manufacturers are making in driverless and all-electric automotive technology at a breakneck pace. This year, visitors to the Consumer Electronics Show were given a pleasant, if unexpected surprise. CES 2018 saw one of the world’s oldest and most enduring automotive designs on display. It was the all-new Jeep Wrangler for 2018. While to the uninitiated, the new Wrangler may look a lot like the old Wrangler, the vehicle has changed in significant ways.

Jeep has four vehicles that are on display at this year’s show. The goal is to showcase the company’s advanced technology found in this latest iteration of its iconic vehicles. Those features include the fourth generation of the Uconnect system. It has an 8.4-inch display as well as 4G LTE connected services. Perhaps the biggest change is the never-before-seen, all-new, Jeep Adventure Reality app which makes its debut with the 2018 Wrangler. Jeep’s new Uconnect system features more vivid imagery, sharper graphics, multi-touch gestures, enhanced processing power, along with the ability to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. FCA Global’s Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand, explained the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler was developed and engineered to contain more advanced technology and safety features than ever before. According to Manley, FCA is proud to showcase the company’s commitment to meeting the increasing desire of consumers for vehicle connectivity that’s both unique and innovative. Manley explained that Jeep’s award-winning Uconnect systems are created to ensure consumers have access to a wide array of conveniently connected features and services that help to deliver what drivers and passengers consider the ultimate driving experience. That evolution can be enjoyed both on-road and off with the new Jeep Wrangler.

Jeep will have four new Wrangler models displayed at the 2018 CES. They are a 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, two Jeep Wrangler Rubicon models, as well as a Mopar-modified Jeep Wrangler Sport. The Jeep Wrangler Sport has been uniquely customized using a number of Mopar-made Jeep accessories and performance parts.

Jeep’s Adventure Reality app let’s buyers ‘build’ their own Wrangler. The app is an online configuration tool buyers can use to choose between two and four doors, as well as wheels, colors and trim levels. The apps’ augmented reality aspect is what makes it more than just another configurator.

The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid has a starting price of $39,995 and has several new standard and available features. Last year, Chrysler released the first gasoline-electric minivan in the industry. With their all-new plug-in model Pacifica Hybrid which can be recharged externally, Chrysler has created a very innovative vehicle.

The Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid Minivan comes in three trim levels. They are the Hybrid Touring Plus, Hybrid Touring L and Hybrid Limited. All 2018 Pacifica models come with the excellent SafetyTec Group, ParkSense Rear Park Assist with Stop, Rear Cross Path detection and Blind-spot Monitoring, as standard equipment. All models have the improved Uconnect 4 audio systems as well.

The exterior features new body-color mirrors and wheels on the Touring Plus, while the Hybrid Touring L has both a Stow ‘n Place chrome roof rack and bright body-side molding. New colors, Ocean Blue Metallic and Copper Pearl Coat, and dual captain’s chairs replacing the three-person bench in the middle row, have been added for 2018. Another unique feature of the 2018 plug-in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica is it can recharge its on-board battery by connecting to a power source outside the vehicle. In electric vehicle mode, a single charge can power the vehicle for about 35 miles. It gets 35 mpg when powered by its gasoline engine alone. The EPA has rated it at 84 mpg/e in everyday driving when using both electric power and gasoline.

The 2018 hybrid Pacifica has a V-6, 3.6-liter Atkinson-cycle engine that produces 260 horsepower when combined with the electric motor. Using battery power and a tank of gas, the vehicle has a 530 mile range. The electric motor connected to the specially-designed E-Flite electronically variable transmission which powers the front wheels of the Pacifica is surprisingly powerful. It delivers enough torque at startup to quickly get the vehicle moving.

Switching between electric and gasoline happens automatically when additional power for passing or climbing steep hills is needed. The hybrid system automatically chooses the driving mode that’s most efficient. However, the driver can override it.

The hybrid Pacific has several unique features. The instrument panel has hybrid-specific features which help with monitoring driving efficiency and battery power. The instrument panel has a unique seven-inch TFT display. The panoramic sunroof has three panes that lets people in all three seating rows see the sky.

The hybrid model’s fully regenerative braking system helps recharge the battery while slowing the vehicle. A special app downloaded to a smartphone can remotely control the hybrid’s heating and air conditioning and set the battery pack’s charging times when the Pacifica hybrid is using an outside power sources.

Available features on the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in hybrid minivan include heated and ventilated leather front seats, Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360-degree Surround View system and a KeySense programmable key fob which can remotely control some features of the vehicle. There’s also Chrysler’s Uconnect Theater which gives Android phones and tablets wireless streaming capability, an integrated Stow ‘n Vac system and hands-free rear liftgate and sliding doors.
