There has been talk about a Jeep Wrangler next generation model in the news for years now. It seems like the wait is over now since the test mule of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler has been seen in the hot southwest. And it will be arriving in the near future to Chapman Chrysler Jeep!

The redesigned model of this famous off-roader seems to be falling in to place as the prototypes have begun their test rides. Wrangler enthusiasts will no doubt be happy at the news that the 2018 prototype is in testing and is expected in 2018.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s final sheet metal isn’t ready; however, the mule was seen wearing the current Jeep Wrangler’s body. What made the Wrangler mule was the 2 door configuration that had a different exterior to the current Wrangler.

Modifications were seen on the windshield as well as on the side skirts. It is very likely that the new Jeep Wrangler will have an extended hood and wheelbase. This will guarantee an easier handling vehicle and more interior space.

Other than the changes to the front end, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler appears fairly similar to the present model. Also included on the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will be steel construction, body on frame designs and solid axles. Aluminium might also be used for certain parts to make it lighter and more fuel efficient compared to the previous models.

Currently the Wrangler is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 and the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will probably be using the same engine. The V-6 engine has a 6-speed manual transmission. Don’t be surprised if an 8-speed automatic transmission is offered with the new Jeep Wrangler.

In the US for the first time, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will have a diesel option. Further down the road there is a possibility of a hybrid version of the Jeep Wrangler.

The new Jeep Wrangler is expected to go into production in 2017 at the FCA’s Toledo plant. Therefore expect the next generation Jeep Wrangler in 2018 and will be awaited eagerly by all off-road enthusiasts. Also coming to the market very soon is a 4-door Wrangler Unlimited.

If you have a Jeep, you have a fine piece of engineering on your hands, and you can use it to go off-roading or drive through city streets. However, if you are wise, you will take extra good care of your Jeep as it will run better and last longer. Here are five tips to keep your Jeep in tip-top shape.

Don’t forget to wash the underbody: When you take your Jeep into a snowy area or a road with ice, you will get salt on the underbody. To avoid any issues, you should hose off your Jeep in the driveway and take a minute to spray down the undercarriage. Or, if you take it into a professional, inform him or her that you took your Jeep in muddy or snowy conditions, and ask him or her to wash the undercarriage. When you take a few minutes to do this, you can ensure that your Jeep doesn’t rust or have other problems with the underbody.

Look at your air filters: If you are an off-roading fanatic, you know how much wear-and-tear you put your Jeep through. To make sure that it runs at its best, you should inspect the air filters, both in-cabin and engine, often. Then, if they need replacing, don’t hesitate to put in a new one. To make things easier, you should consider a K&N filter. That way, you can save money as you can clean them without having to buy new ones.

Take it in for regular oil changes, or do them on your own: Let’s face it, if you have a Jeep and you go off the road often, you are going to work your engine hard. If this is true in your case, you should remember to frequently take your Jeep in for oil and oil filter changes. That way, you can ensure that your Jeep runs well as dirty oil will cause issues to the engine.

Inspect after heavy-duty usage: Cars and SUVs still perform better on paved roads. While true, your Jeep is great for off-roading, and you should take advantage of your Jeep to the fullest. But, when you go into the mud, over rocks and through rivers, you must realize that you are putting your Jeep through hard work. While not a problem, once you are done for the day, you should inspect your Jeep and fix any issues.

Listen to your Jeep: Finally, like any vehicle owner, you need to listen for strange noises or changes. By listening to your Jeep, you can uncover issues related to the engine, transmission or even tires. If things or noises change, you will want to take your Jeep in for servicing.

If you own a Jeep, you have a great vehicle on your hands. With these five tips to keep your Jeep in tip-top shape, you can save money on maintenance, and you can see your Jeep last longer. Luckily, if you don’t own a Jeep, you can check one out at Chapman Chrysler Jeep.

Hot on the heels of Fiat Chrysler’s successful Hellcat muscle cars, the super powered versions of the Dodge Charger and Challenger coupe, the car maker is planning to install a supercharged 707 hp V8 engine that powers them into their popular Jeep Cherokee.

A number of insiders at Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) have confirmed that Jeep is really getting ready to launch a 707 hp SUV which will be called Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk. It is expected to be at Chapman Chrysler Jeep by summer 2016.

Similar to the Hellcat models of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Trackhawk will have the most powerful engine ever included on a U.S stock, factory made passenger vehicle. The Hellcat models can do a 0 to 60 mph sprint that is comparable to high end European supercars.

The Hellcat engine that will be powering the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk will do the 0 to 60 sprint in a mind boggling 3.5 seconds, which is even faster than its vaulted competition the BMW X5 M.

After going on sale in September 2014, Dodge got over 4,500 orders for their Challenger Hellcat in just 5 days. More sales poured in when the Dodge Charger Hellcat came to market soon after. Dodge was forced to stop receiving orders in March for the remainder of the 2015 model year.

Dodge stated last month that they will double the production of the Hellcat engine to keep up with demand. President of the brand Tim Kuniskis stated that the response to the Hellcats of the Charger and Challenger SRT couldn’t have been more enthusiastic. It was unprecedented in the company’s history, so too was the 707 hp muscle cars.

The timing of the Hellcat is perfect as interest in performance vehicles is at the highest point in decades. Cheap gas prices have also helped the surge in demand. It doesn’t hurt that the new engines have both power and fuel economy to back it up. The EPA rates the 707 hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat on the highway at 22 mpg, which is 2 to 3 times what muscle car owners got in the 1960s and ’70s.

Adding the Hellcat engine to the Jeep Grand Cherokee is a good move for the automaker since SUVs and crossovers will outsell sedans in the U.S. this year and there has been an increasing demand for high power models. The Trackhawk will compete directly with the growing line of performance based SUV like the BMW X5 M.
