2015 Chrysler 200 revealed at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show

2015 Chrysler 200

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a very important car for the automaker. The previous generation 200 has not sold in competitive numbers. Anyone who looks at the 2015 Chrysler 200 can see it shares a similar shape to the recently unveiled Dodge Dart. The 200 is based on the same platform, Chrysler’s Compact U.S. Wide (CUSW) platform. The look of the 200 is cleaner and more luxurious than the Dart, though.

Power comes from a 2.4-liter Tigershark inline-four engine. It comes with Fiat’s MultiAir2 valve-lift technology. The Tigershark engine produces 184 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. An optional engine choice is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, making 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of engine choice, a ZF-designed nine-speed automatic transmission is standard. An option for the 200 is a variation of the all-wheel-drive system found in the new Jeep Cherokee.

When fitted with the optional all-wheel-drive system, the system decouples the rear axel, when four-wheel drive isn’t required, to increase efficiency. Chrysler says the front-drive four-cylinder 200 should be good for 35 mpg on the highway.

For cars optioned with the AWD system, a Sport mode is available. The mode adjusts the steering, throttle response, transmission and driveline behavior, stability control, and adaptive cruise-control system for increased performance.

Packed into the 2015 Chrysler 200 is a plethora of safety gadgets and electronic features. Standard is a five-inch Uconnect infotainment screen. An enormous 8.4-inch Uconnect touch-screen is an available option. A standard five-inch TFT display in the instrument panel delivers information to the driver. A seven-inch screen can be optioned and shoehorned into the instrument panel. Adaptive cruise control, forward-collision and lane-departure warnings, backup sensors and cameras, blind-spot monitoring, and rear-crosspath detection are all on the options list.

Expect the 2015 Chrysler 200 on dealership lots this spring starting at $22,695. Visit your Chapman Chrysler Jeep dealership for more information.
