2014 Jeep Cherokee on Sale Now

2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited

The 2014 Jeep Cherokee, built on Fiat and Chrysler’s modular Compact U.S. Wide platform that also underpins the Dodge Dart, is now on sale at your local dealership. Its styling, though somewhat controversial, is pulled heavily from its bigger brother, the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Two engines are available, a 184-horsepower, 2.4-liter “Tigershark” four-cylinder that makes 171 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 with 271 horsepower and 239 lb-ft. A ZF nine-speed automatic is the only transmission available.

While the Jeep Cherokee lacks a rugged SUV look, it doesn’t mean Jeep has left it stranded in mall parking lots. Three 4×4 configurations are available for consumers. The configurations make the Cherokee a very capable off-road vehicle. The Cherokee can also tow up to 4500 pounds depending on the engine.

On the inside, Jeep looked to the Grand Cherokee for interior inspiration. Heated and ventilated power-adjustable front seats are an available option, which was lacking on the Cherokee’s predecessor. Depending on the trim level, premium cloth or leather swaddle the interior and soft-touch points. One unique feature is wireless smartphone charging that allows users to simply place their phone in the center console to recharge—no wires needed.

Additional Jeep goodies include adaptive cruise control that can brake the car to a stop if it detects an impending crash, a lane-departure warning system that now will tug at the wheel if it senses you are drifting off path, and a forward collision-warning system.

The compact crossover/SUV segment is already crowded. Jeep hopes to differentiate the Cherokee from its softer competitors by offering a two-speed transfer case and locking rear differential. The Cherokee gives Jeep a wonderful product that can now compete in it. Check out Chapman Jeep in Henderson for more information and to schedule your test drive.
